The Westfield Matildas today hosted a lunch in Sydney in celebration of Australia and New Zealand’s joint bid to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM, and ahead of the FIFA bidding inspection visits taking place in Australia and New Zealand on February 17-22.
Influential supporters of the bid gathered to celebrate female leadership on and off the pitch and reflect on milestones throughout the bid campaign. The bid will conclude in early June when the FIFA Council awards the host nation(s).
The event was attended by influential Bid Ambassadors Natasha Stott Despoja AO, music producer and DJ Nina Las Vegas, former Matildas vice-captain Moya Dodd, Editor of Women’s Health Jacqui Mooney, Fox Sports presenter Tara Rushton, and Editor-at-large of WHIMN Felicity Harley.
Matildas players Kyah Simon, Mackenzie Arnold, Emily Gielnik, Katrina Gorry, Alanna Kennedy, Aivi Luik, Jenna McCormick, Teagan Micah, and Karly Roestbakken attended following their 6-0 win against Thailand last night in the Women’s Olympic Qualifying match.
